Val joined the VTCT Board of Trustees in May 2006.
After spending many years building up and running a secretarial employment agency, Val retrained in Beauty and, after obtaining experience in Health Spa, mobile and salons, started teaching Beauty at Walsall College where she built up a thriving Beauty department, becoming its Programme Manager and adding Holistic and Sports Therapy. She was also a working partner in a Beauty Clinic for part of this time and became an Examiner and External Moderator for BABTAC, VTCT , City & Guilds and OCN and an independent specialist Expert Witness in Beauty Therapy.
After retiring from college Val continued her Expert Witness work and consultancy work for the Industry and has become an enthusiastic proponent and judge of WorldSkills (UK) whilst continuing to add new skills to her own portfolio.
Val brings to VTCT her wealth of hands-on experience of teaching, assessing and practising in the sector. She has been a long-term advocate of VTCT’s awards and qualifications and her experience of and enthusiasm for the sector has made her the natural choice for Chair of the Educational Giving arm of VTCT Charitable Giving Advisory Panels.
