From September 2014, qualifications in hairdressing services, beauty therapy services and hair and beauty services for all awarding organisations (i.e. VTCT, C&G, Pearson etc) will no longer carry 14-16 performance points. The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (VRQ) will be the only qualification in the sector that is the same size as a GCSE and carries the same amount of performance points.

We have been experiencing a high volume of queries regarding the funding status of VTCT qualifications on the LARA, in particular those funded for 19+ adults in 2013/2014.
The Skills Funding Agency (SFA) now publish a Simplified Funding Rates Catalogue. This spreadsheet lists all the provision the SFA has approved for public funding in 2013/14 and the funding rates. The catalogue will be updated on a regular basis. This catalogue must be used, since the SFA has decided that new information will no longer be added to the LARA. The LARA will be replaced by the Learning Aims Reference Service (LARS) in August 2013.

As indicated in the recent VTCT bulletin (59) which is available to view on the home page of our website, we are planning to introduce charges for our record of assessment books from 1 February 2014. In order to help keep you informed and to outline how the system will operate, we have put together a Frequently Asked Questions document, which is available on the Centre Publications page via the centres tab in the top menu.
