Qualification Lead (Hospitality)
Tracay joined VTCT in the role of Development Officer (Hospitality and Catering) in October 2011.
Before working at VTCT, Tracay worked as an external verifier, a moderator and an exam marker for many different awarding organisations.
Tracay taught in further education for over 17 years, teaching in travel and tourism and hospitality to full-time 16 to 19 year-old students and has, more recently, assessed NVQs in business administration, customer service and hospitality for private training providers and FE colleges. Tracay has been involved with writing units for qualifications since 2000 and is a lifelong learner, spending her time in FE becoming better qualified after completing her various assessor and verifier qualifications and Level 5 Diploma in Management Studies.
Tracay, although having no children of her own, spends time with her 8 nieces and nephews. She also spends a great deal of time with her doting husband of 17 years who she describes as ever-patient and adorable.
Tracay says “I believe that a sense of humour is a must for anyone in the business, and the ability to go without sleep for the most of your year certainly helps! There’s a feel good factor that you get when you help a learner realise they can do it, they are good at it and they will succeed. Definitely worth all the effort, blood, sweat and tears!”
