An 18 year old Solihull College hairdressing student is enjoying continued success this year after winning both the Midlands regional and now the National African Hair Type Ladies Commercial Look Competition.

Following our article in issue 14 of VTCT News, Asnath Losala has been tipped for a successful career by the college due to her dedication and is now looking to further her success by entering World Skills, where she will compete against other student hairdressers in national heats and possibly internationally.

Asnath says she could not be happier with her win, “I haven’t been able to stop smiling since I won, it’s a really big achievement and I hope to win many more in the future.  I would like to thank my family and friends for their support and I would like to thank Cheryl for all her help and guidance”.

Asnath, one of the college’s deaf students, has won over both staff and fellow students with her can-do approach.  Yvonne Malpass, Head of Hair and Beauty says, “Asnath has a wonderful passion for hairdressing, which along with her personality and positive outlook makes her a joy to teach.  At the college we have provided Asnath one-to-one support with a British Sign Language communicator and her attitude and outlook has always been positive.”
