VTCT recently organised a series of Level 4 CPD courses for beauty therapy lecturers. The courses were kindly hosted by East Surrey College and Livava Academy, Wirral. The courses aimed to facilitate up-skilling in beauty therapy to support the suite of new Level 4 beauty qualifications and lecturers from the following colleges participated:

South Essex College
Oxford and Cherwell Valley College
Mid Kent College
Highbury College
College of North West London
East Surrey College
Knowsley Community College
Stockport College
Joseph Priestly College
Sklemersdale College
Halesowen College
Preston College
Silvia Hodge Academy
Senior EV Donna Waugh, attended the course at East Surrey College and said, “I was lucky enough to attend the fantastic training with June and Dee from Pulsar at East Surrey College. The venue was a high calibre, fully equipped yet friendly centre and the host Liz Crawley was most accommodating. As the first pilot group we were a mixture of college lecturers from FE and independent training schools from the south bringing varying degrees of experience and knowledge in both Beauty Therapy and laser and Intense Pulse Light (IPL) work. Gerri Moore, VTCT Chief Verifier for Beauty Therapy attended and I was there to increase my CPD at level 4 and give me the necessary experience to fulfil my role as a VTCT Senior EV for the south.
June and Dee were not only knowledgeable in the whole arena of laser and IPL treatments but were so passionate about keeping high standards of training in our industry whilst stretching candidates to achieve higher level qualifications. The workbooks and information were thorough and in the three days we all learnt and practised hair removal and skin rejuvenating treatments. We were given lots of information on all types of laser work giving us the tools to teach our candidates and answer all their questions with confidence.
Level 4 treatments are being offered in most quality salons and spas now with many one day product company training certificates being the only form of “certification”. This is why awarding bodies have needed to look at the higher end of our services and roll out qualifications to give thorough training to therapists to enable them to work confidently and competently at this level.
I am excited at the qualifications that VTCT have developed at Level 4 to give a much needed progression route to qualified and experienced therapists, empowering them to gain recognised qualifications, at a level appropriate to the highly skilled treatments being carried out in industry.”
