The start of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games not only marks a memorable moment in British history, but it’s the start of a summer of activity for a selection of VTCT staff, students and tutors who are playing vital roles behind the scenes at this year’s Games...

Steve Smith
Steve is currently training to be an External Verifier with VTCT and working as the Sports Massage Internal Quality Auditor/Internal Verifier for Essex, Havering & Kent Adult Community Learning, Lowestoft College and at the Sports Therapy UK and Therapy Learning Centre in Romford.
Steve Smith is working with the GBWR (Great British Wheelchair Rugby) team as a Sports Therapist for this years’ Paralympics.

Marie Genney & Vicky Thomas
VTCT Sports Therapy tutors at Grimsby College.
Marie and Genney will be working as Games Makers at this year's Olympics.
The pair will be working alongside the Olympic medical teams in the Aquatics Centre and Athlete’s Village. Read part 1 of Marie and Vicky's Olympic story in the next edition of VTCT News, due out in September. part 2 will feature in the winter edition.

Anthony Bosson
VTCT Sports Therapy tutor at Newcastle-under-Lyme College.
Anthony, who teaches the VTCT Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy Level 3 (AF30029) and Level 4 (AF40022) at Newcastle-under-Lyme College, had to go through a rigorous selection process before being picked to help support this year’s athletes as part of the Medical Team at the Athlete’s Village and Aquatics Centre.

Laurie Wing and Danielle Avery
It’s VTCT sponsorship that’s helping these two students from Leeds City College make their mark at the Games this summer.
The duo are not competing, but providing valuable on-site services for the residents and visitors of the Olympic Village for the duration of the Olympics and Paralympics, as Salon Juniors within the Athlete Village and the Press Centre on the Olympic Park.

Stephen Peacock
Stephen, Curriculum Area Manager for Sport and Internal Verifier for the new VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (AF30029) at Redbridge College was selected as a Games Maker for this year’s Olympics.
Stephen will be working as a Technical Officer for the boxing teams and will be based at the Excel Centre in East London.

A VTCT External Verifier, Michael helped to prepare some of the UK’s elite athletes for London 2012.
Michael has been working with Team GB for the past two years, including at the Olympic Aquatics venue for the 2012 British Nationals/Olympic Qualifiers.
