Beauty Therapy

Beauty therapy covers all aspects of treatment to the face and body which enhance appearance and bring well-being to the client.

VTCT is accredited to offer NVQ and SVQ in beauty therapy at Levels 1, 2 and 3, with the Make-Up and Massage routes, as well the Level 3 in Spa Therapy.

We also offer a range of our own specialist beauty qualifications including theatrical and media make-up, mendhi and henna skin decoration, fashion/ photographic make up and many others. Depilation and epilation are growing areas of study and our own nails courses complement the N/SVQs.

Threading is the art of removing hair from the eyebrows, face, arms and legs by using a cotton thread has been practised in the East for hundreds of years. This qualification provides a standard for this treatment that is insurable. A critical aspect of this qualification is to ensure the health and safety of the client and to understand the contra-indications to treatment.

Threading depilation is preferred by some clients as being ‘traditional’. Hygiene and correct client care will be covered. The candidate will know how to prepare for threading, select the correct thread to use and explain the processes to the client. The candidate will know how to consult with the client about the area to be threaded and the results required. The candidate must be able to treat erythema with after-care lotion and soothing substances and also explain home care treatment.

 pre-requisite for this qualification is Units VR02 (previously M02) and VR74 (previously M74) either individually or in the form of a new qualification C1120 Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Health, Safety, Security and Employment Standards. This can be completed simultaneously.
