The Diplomas are compound qualifications comprising:
· Principal Learning – providing a blend of knowledge, understanding and skills in the context of a business sector with at least 50% applied and practical learning.
· Project – providing an opportunity to extend learners promoting the development of research and project skills in an area of their interest.
· Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills – wider transferable skills that prepare learners for working life and lifelong learning.
· Functional Skills – essential skills in English, Maths and ICT.
· Additional and Specialist Learning – additional studies to allow specialization (e.g. providing vocational training in hairdressing) or broadening of the young persons programme of study.
