Joint Contingency Plan
The Joint Contingency Plan is designed to ensure consistency of response in the event of major disruption the examination system affecting significant numbers of candidates across several awarding organisations.
The Diploma is a composite qualification mixing theory with practice to enable learners to work confidently, effectively and independently, and prepare them for further or higher education, training or employment.
Diplomas are designed for learners aged 14 -19, and comprise:
- Principal Learning: - a blend of knowledge, understanding and skills in the context of a business sector with at least 50% applied and practical learning.
- Project - an opportunity to promote and develop inidividual research and project skills in a specific area of interest.
- Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills - wider, transferable skills that prepare learners for working life.
- Functional Skills - essential skills in English, Maths and ICT.
- Additional and Specialist Learning - additional studies which allow for specialisation (e.g. providing vocational training in hairdressing) or broadening of the programme of study.
