Safe Exam Browser for PTQ examinations
As part of our efforts to ensure the highest quality and integrity of our assessments, VTCT is implementing a safe exam browser (SEB) requirement.
Safe Exam Browser is a web browser environment to carry out e-assessments safely. The software turns any computer temporarily into a secure workstation. It controls access to resources like system functions, other websites and applications and prevents unauthorized resources being used during an exam. SEB locks access to other online applications including email and web browsers, ensuring that learners cannot access other windows or tabs whilst undertaking their exams. All centres offering PTQ exams must install the Safe Exam Browser in order for learners to sit exams.
To comply with this requirement, you will need to follow these steps:
1) Access the PDF installation guide for instructions (if needed).
2) Download and install the browser onto the required devices at your centre (please note, we recommend this is carried out by your IT department)
3) Confirm with us once the browser is installed by completing the declaration form here.
In addition to the above requirement, VTCT will also be implementing a new, auto-generated password system for learners using e-testing. From 7th May, VTCT online exams will require that the new passwords are used. You will simply need to refer to the attendance and/or learner login sheets for password details, as per the process outlined in Instructions for Conducting Examinations, section 3.6.3. VTCT online examinations.
If you’d like more information about any of the above, please contact us.
