Below we will add any frequently asked questions that we receive relating to this webinar.

General Questions

Will the consultation result in many adaptions added?

We don’t feel that it will be too different at the moment but there may be more flexibility. We will update you at the end of March.

Is this relevant in Ireland too?

If you are offering these types of qualifications, this information will be relevant for you. The information is applicable to the qualification, not exclusively to the geographical location where it is offered.

Can students complete assessments on each other in their bubble or do they wait till 12th April?

Learners can work on each other as long as local restrictions permit this and the centre carries out all relevant risk assessments, H&S checks and hygiene precautions.

Would learners be able to carry out assessments on other staff or students in college?

Can face to face services continue once education is open?

The decision to proceed with formative or summative assessments in educational settings is the responsibility of centre staff and centre management. Assessments in workplace settings should not go ahead at this time.

Can students studying make-up complete makeup assessments on themselves?

Yes

Can assessments in all educational establishments resume as from 8th March 2021?

Education in England reopens on the 8th March, other nations will have their own timelines. The decision to proceed with formative or summative assessments in educational settings is the responsibility of centre staff and centre management. Assessments in workplace settings should not go ahead at this time. Same for learners of all ages.

Are theory exams still happening for VRQs or can assignments cover these?

Yes, there are no restrictions to accessing on-demand theory exams, however, you must apply by using the new V1 adaption form.

What are the adaptations for the qualification I am delivering?

The arrangements for VRQs will be confirmed once the proposed VCRF consultation has been completed and Ofqual has responded which will be near the end of March. We will then be able to give further updates on this. For now, you should continue with the current guidelines.

Is the process the same for NVQs?

We will be holding further webinars explaining the differences between the assessments for the VRQs and NVQs.

Are we able to use a combination of ManageAssess and portfolios?

Yes, you are able to use a mixture of Manage Assess. We would recommend that a group of learners uses Manage Assess for their entire course, however, a second group of learners can use paper-based portfolios if they want.

The majority of our learners are ready for assessments. Can we assess remotely?

The arrangements for VRQs will be confirmed once the proposed VCRF consultation has been completed and Ofqual has responded which will be near the end of March, we will then be able to give further updates on this.

If learners took a break in learning in 2020 will they follow the new VCRF or previous guidelines?

Ofqual are proposing that the new VCRF will replace the ERF and E-ERF in most cases.

What happens if we go into a local lockdown again?

The centre will need to follow the local advice and guidance for that area.

When will further guidance be coming?

We will be providing guidance from the end of March 2021 to all centres.
