VTCT shortlisted for trio of prestigious awards

VTCT has been shortlisted for three awards by the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB), in what has been a pivotal 12 months for the organisation.

The Federation of Awarding Bodies announced the shortlist:

  • Awarding organisation of the year – VTCT
  • Team of the year – VTCT – Qualifications and Assessment Team
  • Innovation of the year – Digital Assess – CompareAssess

The nominations have been announced following the implementation of a new business strategy and rebrand, the appointment of a new Chief Executive, strategic partnerships with industry bodies, and the acquisition of two companies. VTCT has been shortlisted for Awarding Organisation of the Year in recognition of its growth over the last twelve months. The acquisition of the internationally recognised awarding organisation (AO) ITEC has propelled VTCT to become the leading specialist AO for hair and beauty.

Digital Assess, an education technology specialist, was also added to the portfolio in 2016, in order to add value for training providers through the introduction of new online support materials that are pushing the boundaries of innovation through the use of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence. Digital Assess’ formative assessment platform, CompareAssess, which has been proven to increase both student attainment and satisfaction, has been nominated for Innovation of the Year.

The Qualifications and Assessment team at VTCT has also been shortlisted for Team of the Year, following the extensive work it has done towards achieving equality and overcoming bias in societal perceptions of vocational qualifications compared to academic qualifications.

Alan Woods OBE, Chief Executive of VTCT, commented: “In my short time at the helm, I have seen first hand the dedication and innovation from the teams at VTCT, Digital Assess, and ITEC. The strategic improvements we have made allow us to react faster to industry changes, assist employers, and champion learners throughout their whole learning journey and career, including post-qualification training.”

“More than 800 approved centres work with VTCT, and our ever-expanding list extends across the UK, Ireland and internationally. We’re thrilled that the Federation of Awarding Bodies have also recognised these achievements by shortlisting us for three awards. We are looking forward to finding out the results at the FAB 2017 Conference.”

The winners of the FAB 2017 Awards will be revealed at an award ceremony on 19 October.
