We are delighted to announce that Dr Denise Baden will be joining us for our June Hair and Barbering Collective. Denise is a Green activist, author, and owner of Green Stories and Eco Hair and Beauty. She is also a Professor of Sustainability at University of Southampton.
As a key innovator for sustainability in the hairdressing industry, Denise is passionate about embedding sustainability in the hairdressing curriculum. She has also developed a virtual salon training programme and a sustainable stylist/salon certification as part of her project on ‘Engaging Hairdressers in Pro-environmental behaviours’.
At VTCT we share Denise’s passion for sustainability, demonstrated by the recent launch of our VTCT (Skillsfirst) Level 1 Award in Introduction to Sustainability. This qualification is aimed at learners who require an awareness of the different Sustainable Development Goals, and provides an opportunity to help achieve government aims and to raise public awareness of the goals as defined by the United Nations. We also offer the VTCT (Skillsfirst) Level 2 Certificate in Embedding Sustainability in the Workplace (RQF), which is aimed at businesses and organisations that want to raise their awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and gain an understanding of the actions needed to embed them in their working environment. Both these qualifications are ideal for hairdressers and salon owners who want to move towards running a more eco-friendly business.
