Katy started working within Further Education in 1998 as a lecturer in leisure and tourism and is currently the Principal and CEO of City of Portsmouth College. Between 2017 and 2022 she was the Principal and CEO of Strode College in Somerset. Prior to this, she has worked at a senior level in a number of FE Colleges including in the positions of Vice Principal Employment and Skills at Seevic College in Essex and as Deputy Chief Executive at Eastleigh College in Hampshire.

Katy has a breadth of educational experience covering both vocational and technical education as well as A levels. In addition, she has successfully led large apprenticeship provision, opened new learning campuses and led significant quality and financial improvements. She is an advocate for technical education and led the successful roll of out of T levels at Strode College in 2020.

She has supported national training initiatives with the DfE, IfATE, AoC and ETF. She has been Chair of Governors at a local secondary school and is currently a member of the AoC Curriculum Development Policy group.
