Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the most frequently asked questions regarding the plan for adaptations for SVQs in the academic year 2020/2021.

General Questions

Given that students in Scotland cannot practice facial treatments, what can we do?

All centres must adhere to the Government guidelines and restrictions.

Unfortunately, the restrictions on facial services by the Government will delay these assessments. Only adaptations approved by SQA/HABIA can be implemented by centres, however, VTCT will continue to monitor the situation.

Will there be a bank of adaptions to ensure centres are working similarly?

The SQA/HABIA statement gives clarification on the approved adaptations for SVQs. Centres may draw upon the toolkit of adaptations to ensure they meet their individual needs. However, SQA/HABIA have stated that if centres can run the qualifications as normal then they should wherever possible.

Should clients be from their own household, or another bubble?

To confirm, the SQA/HABIA statement allows learners to complete practical skills and range assessments on ‘clients’ from the learner’s/candidate’s household/educational or workplace bubble.
