Training providers delivering apprenticeships will work closely with employers and learners to guide them through the stages in the process. For the new Professional Apprenticeship Standards in Hairdressing and Barbering, a qualification is included in the On-Programme stage which will be delivered by trained assessors and quality assured in the normal way. Twenty per cent of the apprentices time during this stage will be spent on off-the job training to achieve their qualification.

Qualifications

Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing) – On-programme record

Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Barbering) – On-programme record

The qualifications will include multiple choice question papers set by VTCT and marked by the centre.

On successful completion of their qualifications, learners will liaise with their centres and employers to agree that they are ready to progress to the end-point assessment. This is the Gateway stage.

End-Point Assessment
This is the test of mandatory knowledge and behaviours specified in the standards conducted via practical assessment and oral questioning in a workplace environment.
